for Weight Loss

Week 3 summary of six foundation habits for weight loss

Practical foundations you can repeat every day

You do not need to change everything at once. Choose one action that fits your current routine and practise it consistently before adding more.

Day 1 start with hydration
DAY 1

Start with hydration

Today's weight-loss tip is to drink enough fluid.

Thirst can sometimes be mistaken for hunger. Fluid levels may also be lower after waking, during physical work and after exercise.

Today, begin with one glass of water after waking up.

You do not need to build a perfect meal plan immediately. Supporting your basic physical needs is a practical place to start.

Day 2 add protein to every meal
DAY 2

Add protein to every meal

Today's weight-loss tip is to include a protein source at every meal.

Protein supports muscle retention and can make meals more satisfying. Meals made up only of bread, noodles or rice may leave some people hungry again sooner.

Useful options include eggs, chicken, fish, beef, tofu, natto, Greek yoghurt and protein powder. One option is enough.

Today, simply check whether breakfast, lunch and dinner each contain some protein.

Day 3 eat vegetables and fibre first
DAY 3

Eat vegetables and fibre first

Today's weight-loss tip is to add vegetables and fibre-rich foods before reducing more food.

Vegetables, mushrooms, seaweed and legumes can add volume and make a meal more satisfying. If evening hunger is difficult to manage, salad, miso soup, soup or steamed vegetables can be practical additions.

Today, try adding vegetables to just one meal. Small improvements are easier to repeat.

Day 4 add a few more steps
DAY 4

Add a few more steps

Today's weight-loss tip is to increase your everyday movement slightly.

Weight loss does not always require a difficult workout. For many people, increasing normal daily activity is an effective starting point.

  • Use the stairs
  • Park a little farther away
  • Walk for 5–10 minutes after a meal

Today, aim to walk five minutes more than usual. Small actions can create a meaningful difference when repeated.

Day 5 think about the order you eat
DAY 5

Think about the order you eat

Today's weight-loss tip is to pay attention to how you begin your meal.

What you eat matters, but the way you eat can also influence satisfaction. Starting with protein, vegetables or soup may help you feel satisfied before moving to rice, bread or noodles.

Useful first foods include meat, fish, eggs, tofu, vegetables, mushrooms, seaweed, miso soup and other soups.

Today, try starting your meal with protein or vegetables.

Day 6 do not judge progress by weight alone
DAY 6

Do not judge progress by weight alone

Today's weight-loss tip is not to let one weigh-in control your judgement.

Scale weight does not change only because of body fat. Water, salt, sleep, digestion, eating out and post-exercise recovery can all affect the number. Day-to-day changes of 1–2 kg are common.

A one-day increase does not automatically mean that you gained fat. It is usually more useful to look at the trend across one to two weeks.

If the scale rises, stay calm and return your attention to food, fluid intake, steps and your normal routine.

Week 3 weekly review of six weight loss habits
DAY 7: WEEKLY REVIEW

  2. Add protein to every meal
  3. Eat vegetables and fibre first
  4. Add a few more steps
  5. Think about the order you eat
  6. Do not judge progress by weight alone

Weight loss works best when you build small daily habits instead of trying to do everything perfectly at once.
