SHIN FITNESS Basketball Master Terms and Conditions (2026–2027)
Dear Parents and Guardians, these Terms set clear expectations regarding attendance, membership, payments, safety, behaviour and program operations.
1. Definitions and Application
For these Terms and Conditions:
- SHIN FITNESS means SHIN FITNESS Basketball.
- Player means the child or participant attending SHIN FITNESS Basketball.
- Parent/Guardian means the person responsible for the player and the membership.
- New Player means a player who has not previously been a SHIN FITNESS Basketball member.
- Returning Player means a player whose previous membership ended or who is seeking to return after a significant break from the program.
- Membership means the monthly SHIN FITNESS Basketball training membership.
The Parent/Guardian entering into the membership must have authority to make decisions for the player.
2. Training Philosophy
SHIN FITNESS Basketball is a long-term development program, not a casual or drop-in service.
- The program focuses on discipline, consistency and steady progress over time.
- Basketball skill development, physical conditioning, decision-making, confidence and mental development require regular training and commitment.
- Players are expected to listen to coaching, make an effort, respect teammates and coaches, and consistently work on areas requiring improvement.
SHIN FITNESS is designed for families who understand and support this long-term development philosophy. If this philosophy does not align with a family's expectations, the program may not be suitable for that player.
3. Eligibility & Minimum Attendance Requirement
Membership is intended for players who can attend training at least three (3) sessions per week on a regular basis.
- Players who cannot reasonably maintain this training frequency may not be suitable for membership.
- Where appropriate and subject to availability, a player who cannot maintain membership requirements may be offered casual participation instead.
- Continued membership may be reviewed where attendance consistently falls below the expected minimum.
- Attendance will be considered together with circumstances such as training availability, scheduled sessions and other relevant factors.
This requirement exists because training fewer than three times per week is generally insufficient for the development structure used within SHIN FITNESS Basketball.
4. Trial Session – New Players
All New Players are required to complete a trial session before being offered membership.
The trial allows SHIN FITNESS to assess matters including current basketball level, movement and physical ability, ability to follow coaching instructions, concentration and training attitude, interaction with the group, training intensity, development needs and overall suitability for the program.
Completing a trial does not automatically guarantee membership. Membership may be offered where SHIN FITNESS considers the program suitable for the player and the Parent/Guardian wishes to proceed under the current Terms and Conditions.
5. Monthly Membership, Holidays, No Pausing & Cancellation
SHIN FITNESS Basketball membership operates on a continuous monthly basis and is not calculated on a per-session basis.
Holidays, Travel and Personal Absences
Family holidays, overseas travel, school holidays and other personal absences do not pause, freeze or reduce the monthly membership fee. A player may miss training while travelling or for other personal reasons and remain an active member, provided the monthly membership fee continues to be paid.
This includes absences relating to holidays, overseas travel, family travel, school events, other sporting commitments, personal scheduling, illness or injury, or other personal circumstances.
No Temporary Membership Hold
Membership cannot normally be paused, frozen, skipped for selected months, or temporarily held without payment.
Ending Membership
Families who do not wish to maintain membership during an absence may cancel their membership. Cancellation must be provided to SHIN FITNESS in writing before the next calendar month of membership begins.
Once membership is cancelled, the player's membership ends, the membership position is released and may be offered to another player, future availability is not guaranteed, return to the previous group is not guaranteed, and any later return request is treated under the Returning Player provisions.
Fees already paid for the current month are generally not refundable merely because the player chooses not to attend, subject always to rights available under Australian Consumer Law.
6. 2026 Monthly Membership Fees
The official 2026 monthly membership fees are:
| Month | Fee |
|---|---|
| January | $250 |
| February | $200 |
| March | $200 |
| April | $250 |
| May | $200 |
| June | $250 |
| July | $250 |
| August | $200 |
| September | $250 |
| October | $250 |
| November | $200 |
| December | $250 |
Indoor court fees are separate from monthly membership.
7. 2027 Membership Fee Notice
From 1 January 2027, the standard SHIN FITNESS Basketball monthly membership fee will be $250 per month for every calendar month from January to December 2027.
The Indoor Court Fee of $15 per player per indoor session remains separate from the monthly membership fee.
Families who do not wish to continue under the 2027 membership fee may end their membership before the new fee takes effect by providing written notice to SHIN FITNESS. No separate cancellation penalty will apply simply because a family chooses not to accept the new 2027 membership fee.
8. Returning Players – Re-entry Requirement
A player whose membership has ended is not automatically entitled to return to their previous membership position or training group.
If a former member wishes to return, they will normally be required to complete six (6) Casual Training Sessions within two (2) weeks before being considered for regular membership again. Each Casual Training Session is charged at the current published Casual Training rate.
The purpose is to assess ability to attend at least three sessions per week, current skill level, physical conditioning, movement quality and coordination, basketball timing and decision-making, concentration, training habits and attitude, ability to follow coaching instructions, ability to train at the current group intensity and suitability for the current group.
Completion of the six sessions does not automatically guarantee membership re-entry. Re-entry remains subject to available space, group numbers and structure, the player's current level and readiness, training attitude, ability to maintain minimum attendance, and acceptance of the current Terms.
Where SHIN FITNESS does not provide enough scheduled opportunities to complete six sessions in two weeks, or circumstances outside the player's control make the period impractical, the completion period may be reasonably extended.
Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy available under Australian Consumer Law.
9. Re-entry Review, Reconditioning & Group Placement
After the six-session re-entry period, SHIN FITNESS will consider whether the player is suitable to return to regular membership and group training.
SHIN FITNESS may determine that the player is ready to return, additional Casual Training is required, Private Training or reconditioning is recommended or required, a different training arrangement or group is more appropriate, or membership re-entry is not currently suitable.
Where a Returning Player has fallen behind the current group standard, additional Casual Training, Private Training, individual skill development, conditioning, movement and coordination work, basketball fundamentals or another appropriate training arrangement may be required. Any additional paid training is charged at the current published rate.
Returning to a previous training group is not guaranteed. Group placement may take into account player safety, appropriate training intensity, effective coaching, progression of existing members and overall group training quality.
10. Weekly Training Schedule & Venue Changes
The weekly training schedule is normally issued on Sunday evening once court availability has been confirmed. Training locations may change from week to week.
SHIN FITNESS may reasonably change venue, start time, finish time, indoor/outdoor location or session availability due to facility availability, public holidays, school holidays, other bookings, weather, court condition, player numbers, operational or safety requirements. The latest schedule issued by SHIN FITNESS is the official schedule.
11. Outdoor Court & Weather Policy
Outdoor or undercover sessions may be cancelled, moved, shortened or changed where conditions are considered unsafe, including rain, wet or slippery surfaces, storms, lightning, extreme heat, dangerous wind, unsafe playing surfaces or other safety concerns.
Where practical, SHIN FITNESS may attempt to move training indoors, change venue, adjust the session time or provide another reasonable training option. Alternative court availability cannot be guaranteed.
An isolated session cancelled because of unsafe weather conditions is generally not refunded or rescheduled where the overall membership program and other training opportunities remain available, subject to Australian Consumer Law.
12. Indoor Court Fee
When training is held at an indoor court, an additional $15 per player per indoor session applies.
The Indoor Court Fee is separate from monthly membership, trial fees, casual fees and private training fees, and contributes to the cost of hiring the indoor facility.
13. Payments
All membership and applicable training fees must be paid by the required due date. A player's membership position is reserved only while membership remains active and payment obligations are being met.
Failure to pay may result in follow-up, suspension of participation where appropriate, or cancellation of membership. If cancelled for non-payment, the position may be offered to another player and later re-entry is not guaranteed.
14. Refunds, Credits, Missed Sessions & Personal Absences
Membership fees are generally not refunded or credited merely because a player does not attend training that was available to them. This includes change of mind, missed sessions, holidays, overseas or domestic travel, school holidays, schedule changes, school or sporting commitments, illness or injury.
A family wishing to keep active membership during an absence must continue paying the applicable monthly fee. A family that does not wish to pay during an absence may cancel under Section 5.
SHIN FITNESS may choose to provide an alternative session, credit or other arrangement in individual circumstances, but this does not create an automatic entitlement unless required by law.
Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies rights under Australian Consumer Law.
15. Player Behaviour
Players are expected to listen to coaching instructions, train with reasonable effort, respect coaches, teammates, other players, venues and equipment, behave safely, and avoid bullying, harassment, discrimination, abusive or threatening behaviour, inappropriate swearing or aggression, and intentional disruption.
Depending on seriousness, SHIN FITNESS may speak with the player or Parent/Guardian, temporarily remove the player from a session, establish behaviour conditions, or end membership in serious or repeated cases.
16. Parent & Guardian Behaviour
Parents and Guardians are expected to communicate respectfully and support a safe training environment. They must not abuse or threaten coaches, players or other parents, repeatedly interrupt coaching, create unnecessary conflict, bully or harass, discriminate, interfere with safety instructions or otherwise negatively affect the training environment.
Serious or repeated inappropriate behaviour may affect the player's continued participation where reasonably necessary to protect safety or proper program operation.
17. Injury, Medical Conditions & Emergency Treatment
Basketball and physical training involve inherent physical activity and a risk of injury. Parents/Guardians must provide relevant information about existing injuries, allergies, asthma, medical conditions, medication requirements, physical restrictions and other health or safety information relevant to participation, and keep it reasonably current.
A player who is injured or unwell should not attend where participation would be unsafe. In an emergency or where reasonably necessary, SHIN FITNESS may provide basic first aid, contact the Parent/Guardian or emergency contact, call Queensland Ambulance Service or another emergency service, and seek appropriate emergency medical assistance.
Parents/Guardians remain responsible for medical or ambulance expenses except where responsibility is otherwise imposed by law.
18. Child Safety & Complaints
SHIN FITNESS is committed to providing a child-safe environment and complying with applicable Queensland child safety requirements. The safety, dignity and wellbeing of children are taken seriously.
Concerns may include child safety, bullying, inappropriate conduct, harassment, discrimination, unsafe coaching practices or inappropriate behaviour by another child, parent, coach, staff member or volunteer.
Concerns or complaints should be reported as soon as reasonably possible. SHIN FITNESS may take immediate protective action and, depending on circumstances, contact Parents/Guardians, emergency services, Queensland Police, child protection authorities or another appropriate authority.
These Terms do not replace separate child safety policies and procedures.
19. Media, Photos & Social Media Consent
Photos and videos may be taken during SHIN FITNESS Basketball activities for coaching and player feedback, social media, the website, program information, educational material and promotional material.
Media consent is separate from basketball membership. A Parent/Guardian will be asked to provide separate written or electronic media consent. Declining media consent will not, by itself, make a player ineligible for membership.
Consent may later be withdrawn for future use by notifying SHIN FITNESS in writing. Material already published, shared or distributed may not always be capable of complete removal.
Parents and players must not record, publish or distribute identifiable images or videos of other children without appropriate permission.
20. Changes to Fees or Terms
SHIN FITNESS may occasionally update these Terms due to changes in law, child safety requirements, venue or insurance requirements, operational changes, services or fees.
Where a material change is proposed, reasonable prior notice will be provided where practicable and the effective date will be stated. A family that does not agree with a material future change may end membership before it takes effect by providing written notice. No separate cancellation penalty will apply merely because a family chooses not to accept a future material change.
21. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where a refund, cancellation, compensation or other remedy is required by law, that legal right applies despite any other provision in these Terms.
22. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in Queensland, Australia, together with applicable Commonwealth law including the Australian Consumer Law.
23. Agreement
By enrolling or continuing a player in SHIN FITNESS Basketball, the Parent/Guardian confirms that they have received and had an opportunity to read these Terms; understand the membership structure and minimum attendance expectation; understand that membership cannot normally be paused or skipped; understand that holidays, travel and personal absences do not reduce the monthly fee while membership remains active; understand that cancellation releases the player's position and future re-entry is not guaranteed; understand the Returning Player six-session re-entry process and that additional Casual Training, Private Training or reconditioning may be required; understand the applicable monthly fees and separate Indoor Court Fee; and agree to support the training philosophy and reasonable behaviour expectations, subject to Australian law.
Media consent is handled separately and is not automatically granted by accepting these Terms and Conditions.
If a Parent/Guardian does not agree with these Terms and Conditions, membership should not commence or should be cancelled in accordance with Section 5.
Kind regards,
Shin
